A recent article in The Guardian has highlighted several dementia apps which aim to help people connect with their past, remember happy moments and share their life stories. We have talked before about the importance of life story work - a really key aspect in delivering person-centered care - and also have often discussed the place of technology in dementia care.
This article makes for really interesting reading, some of the apps are designed to be used in a care setting, others for us at home, but in each case the importance of using memories and reminiscence to better understand a person is what shines through.
A wonderful story about discovering a resident's past job as a milkman, and the transformation in his day to day life following this revelation makes for particularly inspirational reading.
