Competition Time!

We’re looking for your favourite green-fingered activities!

It’s summer at last, and finally, we can all take advantage of some good weather. The birds and the bees are busy, and it’s the perfect time of year to take your residents outside for some fresh air and fun activities. In our July competition, we would like you to tell us your favourite gardening activities or how you make the best use of your garden spaces.

  • How do your residents like to spend time in the garden?
  • What’s the best way to get your residents outdoors and engaged with nature and gardening?
  • How do you bring the gardening experience to residents who are less mobile or tend to self-isolate?

We are interested in what activities you do, and how you do them to create a really enjoyable experience for your residents. The four most relevant, useful and inspiring entries will each receive a cheque for £20.

A selection of the best entries will be shared on our Resources Hub – where you can already find some great inspiration for starting a gardening club. Our Hub is where we capture your innovative ideas and examples of best practice, to share them with others working in your field. We believe that sharing skills and knowledge with other activity coordinators is a key way to ensure we all excel in providing the best care possible.

To enter the competition, write your entry in approximately 100 words on the special entry form here. All entries must be received in this way to be included in the competition. You will also need your care home reference number – a four or five digit number found in the subject line of the email which has your Daily or Weekly Sparkles attached. All entries must be received by 1st August 2019 and the winners will be notified by 15th September 2019.
